Question about noise when changing air flow selector

So i am in the market for a truck
2007 F150 XLT

I am pretty close to pulling the trigger EXCEPT when i change the air flow selector on the climate controls it makes a HOOO sound.

i mentioned it to the sales person back on monday when i had first test drove it and they service department checked it. They came back saying its a tiny part thats needs replacing and its not that big of a deal. it would take them 500 dollars to change out the a part that isnt in danger of failing. from research it sounds like its the blend door.

they dont arent willing to fix it....my question to you guys is how hard is it to fix and if the dealership is full of **** and i just give them the ultimatum of fix or i walk.

thanks

I've been listening to that in my 06 STX for years. Never had any problems with fan or HVAC system. That's just how it sounds.

if you pull the trigger, try a dry lube on the pivot. Might quiet it down

It's the blend door actuator. It's located on the top of the air box and is fairly easy to get at if you want to do it yourself. I had mine "serviced" under warranty a few years back, but the noise returned a year or two after. It doesn't affect the operation of the HVAC system, it's just a bit annoying when you first turn on the system or make wide changes in the temperature control.
