I just learned that my friends car motor is shot due to time chain messed up..

Now he got me wonder...

Im curious

5.4 has a time chain, is it rubber belt or metal chain ??

Is it common problem or ?? any info ?? need to replace time chain ? how do i know its going to bad and need to fix it ??

My 2004 truck (crew) is at 93K and daily driver, i dont beat it up...just normal driving

You have chains, and they usually last the life of the engine. The guides and tensioners will go before the chains.

 

Oh ok, how to check guide and tensioner to see if its need to replace?

Well, that being the case, does your wife hear any kind of noise? If she does, it would be worth taking it over to Ford, explain your situation, and ask them to listen and give you an opinion.
