2004 F150 (new body style) Lariat 4X4 with 5.4 V8. I took it to the shop just to get my front rotors and pads replaced. That's all good now, but I noticed my check engine light is on now. It's the symbol of the engine in the dash. Any idea if they could have done something to accidentally cause that to come on or is it just a coincidence? Is there a way I can reset it without the electronic diagnostic tool and then see if it comes back on later? I was thinking of disconnecting the battery and trying to let it reset that way but I'm not sure if that will do the trick. Any idea?

 

It is on for a reason.

You might have a vacuum leak from your 4x4 (IWE) system causing that light from the brake job.

Be wise -- check those codes!

I agree, get it checked. Too many people put it off assuming its no big deal. I'm pretty sure autozone or somewhere like that will run it for free. Also, some shops will do it for free as well. We do it for free at the shop I work at.
