I have read so many issues that you guys have and they are all similar. I have 200 k on my truck and its been ticking for last 100k. Its now knocking and I am ready to sell it or fix it. I am wondering your opinion if I bite the bullet to replace the cam phasers if it will fix the problem. It doesnt always sound like its a diesel and knock, it sometimes sounds like a decent truck . Being its not a consistant problem it makes me think its an oil pressure issue. What has been your experience? Its over 700 for parts here and I am reluctant to tear into a 200k mile motor on a maybe fix. I need to get another 50k miles without a new motor or tranny

 

If the truck is not having any problems due to the cam phaser knock I recommend buying a good set of earplugs or earmuffs.

 

It is getting worse, louder. I doubt itll last much longer if I dont do something

 

It does idle rough. Can cam phaser cause this? All plugs and boots are new and installed properly. Yes they were greased. I will have to double check the cops but I just had diag ran few months ago and replaced 2 and 3 cop. I had my oil changed with 5 30 but had been running 10 30 and it wasnt as bad withvthe 10 w.
