CST button on my cruise made it speed up instead of decrease speed.
Had a issue with my cruise control tonight. When I used the CST button to decrease my speed the truck accelerated instead. Pushed the button a few times just make sure it was doing what I thought and sure enough it was. the SET button was working corectly as I checked it it works like it is supose to. So anyone have this issue before and what did you do to resolve it Right now the only way to set it at a lower speed I either have to turn off the cruise wait til I hit the speed I would have coasted it down to then trun it back on and hit the SET button or use the brakes to slow it down to the desired speed and then hit the SET button.

May not change anything but it's so simple to do you'd be foolish not to. That would be to disconnect your battery for a little while and see if it will do a reset on the cruise since MOST of it is electronic, run through your PCM. It's not impossible, but a little hard to imagine that the simple mechanics of the buttons on the wheel would cause it to do that. Always a little possibility that it could short across in the wheel area since the accel and decel are in close proximity.

I'm almost thinking it's got to be something in that switch -- I don't think the programming in the PCM would change on something like that once it's set? Of course, the "unhook the battery for awhile and then reconnect it" routine is cheap and easy, so it may be a decent place to start just to make sure.

Did you figure out what the problem was with this issue. Mine just stated doing this today. 2004 XLT Supercrew with 5.4 L. Thanks
