Lift and Tire Question

Ok so here is the question I have. Most 6" lifts suggest a 35" tire. The rocky ridge packages come with a 6" procomp lift with 35x12.50R20. My question is, if I were to go with an 18x9 rim with -12 backspacing would I be able to clear 37x13.50 tires. To me it makes sense that I would be able to. Reason being I would be making up the size difference in tires. In addition to the 6" lift I would be running would be stacked with a leveling kit.
