07 f150 5.4 intake removal
You could, but it would be pointless. The stock airbox (with gotts mod) is capable of supplying the same performance increase as the $300 aftermarket units. Save your money and do the gotts mod if you want to alter it. $20 at Lowe's

sure is. replaced mine with a air raid mit #400-940. I did it too clean up the look under the hood. You can hear it when you get on it. sounds like a 4 barrel carb. As for performance there is no noticeable difference i can tell.

Just a follow up on this. I did the Gotts mod a while ago. And while it did improve performance it presented some issues.
#1. Finding black 3" plastic pipe in the south. Not real common down here. I had to use 3" Schedule 40 PVC and matte black spray paint.
#2. Actually sanding the oval shape into the end of the tube.
#3. Durability. Simply put, mine managed to crack length wise I reverted back to stock.
I have some store credit with one of the vendors, and plan on going with the Air Raid intake tube. I like the idea of keeping the stock airbox / my K&N filter setup.
If you can find the ABS plastic pipe, that might be well worth trying though. I know PVC is plenty brittle compared to ABS, so it might produce better results.
If you want to get rid of the baffle, some guys simply cut it out. It is just connected by small plastic tube type airways. Just cut it clear and plug them off.
I haven't seen any actual flow numbers on any of the rigs out there, Air Raid or otherwise, but considering the OEM tube necks the 3" down to something around 1.5 to 1-7/8" max, the airflow from the Gotts mod itself has to be substantially higher, Not sure about the actual ducting dimensions, but the Air Raid tube appears to have cleaner turns, and a huge horn like snout, all good things for making air flow the way you want it to. If it makes the intake sound like a 4BB carb, big whoop de doo, as long as it doesn't produce a big drone in the cab you are good...
