Looking to buy 04 Crew 5.4 w po606 ECM Code

Hey guys, names Bob and im from Massachusetts. im helping my good friend Jim find a new truck after he lent his 02 F150 2wd to his mother and she totaled it in a snow storm. (truck had 150k and was beat up, got $5500!!! from insurance)

Anyways, think we have found a great deal check it out:

http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...nal&listType=1

Lowest price of the new gen f150 that has under 100,000 miles in a 75 miles radius from us.

Looked at it today, truck is CLEAN! I work for a High Line BMW/Mercedes/Porsche Dealership so I am helping him throught the process. Windows are tinted, has vent visors, has a heavy gas shock flip up locking tonneau cover with a bed liner underneath, single flowmaster 40 series welded on, all stock otherwise. Little rip in the drivers seat otherwise spotless, pin stripe is a little different but its removeable. Lastly needs tires, but as any sales guy says "They are passable for inspection" which they are.
Also, when we first got their he was showing the truck and told someone $13,995 was the price, so I already knew he was going to be someone solid at the $11,8xx. So we got him to $11,570 at just over "cost" so he says. Only one TRUE problem.

CEL came up as a PO606, which ive researched as some sort of intermittent PCM error, which my buddy who is a ford guy says, usually requires either replacement at about $1000 or sometimes the dealership can reflash it and clear the problem. The guy cleared the code after he read it to use.

So, they say "we will fix it" but the place is a freeking hole in the wall crap shop, so I already know, their mechanic will look, see no code and GOOD TO GO! We drive home and BAM CEL will come on, I just know it.

So.....(sorry for long read) do we run away? Technically they have to fix anything "safety" related in 30 days, and it also must pass inspection, problem being the dealership is 1 hr away.

Based on previous issues and knowledge that other people have im open to opinions! Let me know best course of action here. We just dont want multiple ****ty trips to a dealership that may or may not be able to do anything.

Thanks,
Bob
