Ratchet is just to loosen the tension on the belt so it can be removed. OReilly carries some Ford OE parts.
Nice write up!

You aren't turning a bolt, you are using the ratchet or breaker bar in a 1/2" square hole in the tensioner to swivel it against tension.

Yea that's what I was wondering. So basically that just loosens some of the tension so you can pull the belt off the alternator and you would do the same when you put the new alternator in?

Exactly. In fact, pull the belt out and inspect it carefully, replace if necessary. Belt routing should be on a sticker under the hood.
