XD Monsters/Nitto Terra Grapplers???

Hey everybody, I have done my research and think I have settled on a tire and wheel package. I'm looking at the ever popular Monsters in 20x9 with a +18 offset and Terra Grapplers in 295/60/20. They are going on a 2005 FX4 Scab and I will be adding a 2" Auto Spring level kit.
I was just looking for opinions on my setup? Would any of you go with a different tire size? I won't be doing much off roading so I don't really need the mud grappler, although they look better!! How about the 2"level? Would a 1.5 or 2.5" be better?
I found this tire and wheel package on ebay for $2,059! I will probably pick them up since they are in Illinois and I'm close, so no shipping!! Thanks in advance.

I'd go with 2.5" on the level to ensure you get enough clearance for the almost-35" tires. However, with 35" tires you will want to look at a gear ratio change, which is going to run you $800 for doing both pumpkins. You'll probably want 4.56's, but you could get away with 4.10's if you already have them. Without the gear change, you'll be putting a considerable amount of stress on the tranny/driveline.

What tire size do you recommend so I don't have to do a gear ratio change?

I'd stick with 33's if you don't want a gear ratio change, assuming you have 3.73's currently. That would be roughly a 275/60/R20 or 305/55/R20 depending on the width you prefer.

-the 295/60/20 you selected is about 33.9 inches tall. most guys with just a level stick with 33s. a 305/55/20 is rouughly 33x12.5x20.

-i believe all you need is a 2 inch leveling kit. the 2.5 puts some pretty good stress on your suspension components up front, causing them to wear faster.

-here is a link to a guy with 20 inch monsters. he went with a 2.5 leveling kit

all in all good choice, i went with the 18s and mud terrains

Thanks guys!! I didn't realize the 295 was so big. Now i have to decide between the 275 and the 305. It sounds like the decision will have to be more money for the 305s (which probably will look better) and saving money with the 275s!!

The 295/60/R20 is 34.45" according to Nitto's website.

Thanks Soonertruck!! Those are definitely too big. Other then the look is there any reason to spend the extra $200 on the 305s? Does anyone have a pic of the 275s with a 2" level?

I found the tire and wheel package for $1799 with no tax. That includes center caps, lugs, and balanced. 305s are $1999.

I'm still on the fence. The 305s are $200 more and will cut the gas mileage a little but I think they will look better. The truck in the pic you posted doesn't have a level kit so I'm trying to picture the 2" gap up front with those tires!! It's just a matter of money I guess!!

Well, you could always get the wheels/tires (whichever width you choose) and add the leveling kit afterwards if you feel you need it. I believe the 33's will fit w/o a leveling kit. The thing about the 305's vs 275's is that I'm not sure if the backspacing for your wheels will work with both. I'd be worried that the 275's would look tucked or the 305's would be sticking way out of the fender wells unless you get some aftermarket fender flares. I wouldn't worry too much about the gas mileage between the two. It'll probably be less than a 1mpg loss to go with the 305's.

Do the 305s stick out a lot more? I really don't want new flares.
