Starter issue?

I did a lot of searching of the forums but I am wondering if anyone else has had this specific issue before I go and buy a new starter.

Over the last two months, my truck has been giving me a hard time starting. When I turn the key, it doesn't get a chance to fully "turn over" and it stutters a few times before it levels out and runs normal, almost like the starter gives out before the engine is ready......other times, I have to hold the key a couple of times before it turns over. Also, if I don't drive the truck for a few days (2 usually), the battery is dead. It is a brand new battery (Diehard Platinum) that was purchased new last year. I also unplugged all the accessories that could cause a draw.

Do you think the starter is the culprit?

Thanks for your help!

PS: 05 5.4 XLT and I had a stuck fuel injector last year, hydrolocking my engine with fuel and the dealership had to replace the injector and fuel rail.

Take it to a parts place like Advance, etc and have them check the alternator/battery/charging system. Most places do that for no fee. Could be an alternator/voltage regulator not charging the battery. Could be the one year old "brand new" battery is not good. The starter does not sound like the problem at this point.

Was going to say fuel pump or check value since you had to hold the key for a while before it started but wouldn't explain dead battery. Starter wouldn't explain dead batter maybe alternator. But agree go to advanced it's free check.
