so i have an 08 STX with about 40k miles i bought it about 2 years ago with 13k on it from a dealer it had a ford remote start on it when i got it never any issues. Now when i try to start it with the remote the truck does every thing it used to ie: lock doors flash lights honk horn and so forth. Except start wont even crank. When i get in the truck everything is on like heat dome lights radio and even turns everything off when i hit the brakes with out the keys in it all like normal minus the engine running part......i am a pretty decent back yard mechanical kinda guy but know nothing about eletronics any clues that can help me out before the dealership bends me over would be very greatful

Does horn beep(s) when the start button is used?

Usually the horn will beep if there is a fault code and the number of beeps will tell you what the fault code is....

 

Sounds like the same problem I had with mine a year ago. Probably need a new securilock Interface Kit Part # 8L3Z-19G365-BA. There is a broken wire in the winding that tells the P.A.T.S. unit that there is a key present. It mounts on the switch just under the plastic trim.

 

interesting ill have to check the wiring and look.....as far as the fault codes the truck would beep once then go through the starting procedures then start and beep once its started. The truck still does all that just doesnt crank

 

That is what mine was doing, going through all the right moves, but no starter. After it goes through the sequence, does your PATS light flash rapidly ??

 

If the PATS light is the red LED alarm light then no its not flashing any different then the normal blink every 10 sec or so.......what was the out come on ur truck what was fixed to make it all work again?

 

I had to replace the PATS interface kit. Like in the picture above
