Since his was a 2004 5.4 3v probably the sp515

Follow glc's advice.....
Rock Auto has several brands of COP boots.

Black boots = 2 piece plugs = SP515
Brown boots = 1 piece plugs = SP509

Have your buddy do the plugs and boots and go from there.

Well I went with the plugs only. Sp515, got them locally for 12 bucks each, 103 for all 8. The guy who did it charged me 170 to change them. Only 1 broke, #8. I figured if it keeps acting up I can swap the coils on my own.

Good deal. The cop's are a piece of cake to replace compared to the plugs

I think it's SP507 or SP515 depending on what year.

Anyone out there use the Denso coil boot kit?

SP515 has completely replaced SP507.

So if I understand this correctly, the original style heads still need to use a two piece plug???

That's correct SP-515 is a two piece plug, (04-early 08 5.4 3v) many are having good luck with the Champions (one piece) in the 3v.

No, but the one piece plugs that are available (Champion, E3, Brisk) leave something to be desired.

Motorcraft does not have a one piece plug for the 5.4l 3v. If replaced as per the TSB with the nickle anti-sieze on the shank, and replace them at 60,000 miles interval, you should be in good shape. If you are dead set against the two piece plug then, of the 3 brands available (Champion, Brisk, E3) then the Champion would be my choice, some members are having good luck with them. That being said, I believe driving habits, fuel brand and type contribute to the success of the Champions...give them a try, then you will know.

I just installed these off of Amazon and they work great. Truck purring like a kitten. I am pretty sure these are from the eBay seller uneek that everybody says is good to go.
Here is crossing my fingers you're right! Ordered the same COPS.

Installed COPS yesterday. My buddy (owns shop) can't believe 8 COPS were $75 total...and I can't either!!

The COPS even include boots/wires. It's only been a day, but it is running great!

Amazon seller shipped same day Priority Mail, and I had them from CA to OH in two days. Pretty hard to beat! I will report back if problems arise.

This site is an amazing asset. Thanks to all!
