Unhappy Audiophile issue

Hey guys, I am currently facing an issue that just recently started occurring with the premium audiophile system on my KR. The subwoofer will randomly go off and on when I am driving. Sometimes it will just turn off when listening to music even at a low volume, sometimes I will turn the car on and it won't be working. When off, it will not turn back on unless I turn the head unit off and wait a little bit before turning it back on. It has become a hassle and has been bugging the crap out of me because it is ruining the quality of sound! I did some research into the topic but couldn't find a good answer so I did my own investigation and checked the wires on the box under the seat and from what was visible, everything seemed intact. I also pulled out the radio and checked the wires and they also seemed fine. I didn't want to check anything hidden with the fear of breaking something in trying to find a possible loose wire or something. Any solution or input would be greatly appreciated

Have you determined if the amp for the sub turning off or are you losing the audio signal to the amp?

Would need to test the pins at the subwoofer harness with a voltmeter. You need to verify whether the turn-on lead and signal leads are providing proper voltage when the sub turns off. This will let you know if it is a head unit/harness issue, or an amplifier issue.

@Blue_Hound: I have not been able to determine either due to the lack of being able to recognize the difference between the amp not receiving power, or if my sub is losing the signal from the amp

@SoonerTruck: Would these pins be visible when I remove the subwoofer out of the black box or is this visible in the enclosure? Also, how would I go through the process of telling the difference between it being a head unit/harness issue, or an amplifier issue?

I'm sorry fellas, electrical components are not exactly my forte but I am a handy man with the capability of attempting to fix this issue. I want to have an idea of what this is before resorting to the stealership.

The harness is plugged into the amp on the bottom of the subwoofer, nearest the seat frame. When you remove the subwoofer, it would be evident. There are only about 5-6 pins on the connector, so it wouldn't take long with a multimeter. Knowing that the pins are all providing the correct power/signal rules out harness/head unit issues and leaves the amp or sub itself as the culprit.

Thank you SoonerTruck, I will check the pins out and the harness for any problems tomorrow or this weekend. I noticed that the sub will work during a whole car trip but sometimes during a change in a song, the sub will stop and I have to turn off and turn on the radio once or twice to get it running again...very odd

Okay, so I went ahead and checked the pins in the harness that goes into the amp with a voltmeter and here were my results:
Red/Black: 4.67V
Orange/Brown: 4.67V
Sea Green/Purple: 6.1V
Thick Black/Orange: 0V
Thick Blue/Purple: 12.9V

I also checked the pins in the output plug of the amp that you plug the subwoofer harness in and all of them registered at 6.3V. What could the problem be? I feel that if the amp is receiving and outputting power that it could be the sub or output plug. Maybe I am wrong but it still keeps going off and on in interments.
