Stock gas cover will not closed

My 04 screw , gas cover will not stay closed...something loose ?

What to check?

It's pretty floppy around and won't stay closed

How to fix?

I don't want aftermarket gas cover

Thanks
Jake

Same happened to me, the spring in it broke and had to get one from the dealer; a whole unit minus the painted cover which pops off somewhat easily (I tried to just get a spring but ford only sold it in whole assy.). I think the part was around $30 and maybe 10-15mins to install with common tools.

Yeah, my spring broke years ago. I found these little magnets, they're about the size of a dime. I glued them in.

I like it cuz it still 'snaps' closed.

Oh man, it's been awhile. I think it was Grainger, or a place like that. Maybe Gigaparts?

All I remember it was one of thoise BIG buildings that you walk in a little front office and go to a window, and the dude looks upwhat you want, then dissappears for a bit and comes back with your stuff if they had it.
