Crimped wire in brake switch

So apparently I have a crimped or damaged wire that runs into the brake switch on a 2005 F150. A couple of months ago I started hearing my brake pedal squeak. I just grabbed a can of spray oil and coated the brake pedal pretty good. I didn't take the time to learn that electrical systems that controls the brake lights and cruise control were located in the same area. I changed the switch with a new part from Advance Auto and got my lights working again. In the meantime, I took the electrical component and stuck it out of the way while I replaced the switch. When I did, I must have crimped a wire or something. The only way that I can get the truck out or park (not using the interlock next to the gear shift) is to stick my left foot next to the brake pedal and jiggle the wires.

Does anyone know how or what to look for in a crimped wire? OR do y'all know how to correct this?

Thanks!

May be a loose connection in the the wiring connector to the switch. You may have wiggled it loose when you messed with it changing the switch.

Unfortunately, I checked all connections and it looks like everything is good to go. It's got to be inside the actual wiring (black flex tube)? It's about to drive me nucking futs!

Thanks so much to everyone who helped.....

Anyway, I wanted to write so hopefully this will help someone. I fixed the problem with the brake switch. The original switch was shorted out when I sprayed oil on the brake pedal (*because it was squeaking*). I bought a replacement/generic for $65 at Advance Auto. I changed the switch and the lights worked but the truck would not engage. I had to jiggle the switch with my other foot to get it into gear. I finally found a motorcraft part at a local auto parts store called K.O.I. The switch was $40 and I put it on today. Everything works great now. I also adjusted the booster and it has resolved the squeaking brake pedal.

Seriously though--take time to help someone when they ask. It just a takes a moment. AVFROG--I appreciate that you replied.

You are overlooking just one small detail - someone has to know the answer before they can post it!

Would you rather have had a thread with 25 replies all saying "I dunno"?

yes. Actually, I would. It's just being civil instead of being ignored.
