how to clean COPs (coils)
how to clean COPs (coils)
I have a 2005 F150 5.4 3v supercrew, have noticed some hesitation when going uphill or when in low rpms, have heard these trucks have some problems with coils, i replaced #8 coil by firewall and cleaned throttle body and truck was fine for bout a week then noticed same hesitation, what can I use to clean then with before I decide to waste $275 on some accel coils, any suggestions????
Not sure if you can really clean them or not effectively. You can replace the boots and connecting springs if they're torn or corroded though. If its a problem with the coil itself then you'll need to replace it.
I've used coils off amazon and eBay with success, they've much cheaper than others I've seen.

Im at 100k but havent changed plugs yet about to change them when i decide on which coils to purchase, i plan on putting in some e3 plugs i heard they perform great, i hope its not a fuel injector issue i know that can be expensive to get repaired/replaced thanks guys!
When you change your plugs.....you can just get the boot for the cop....also its a good time to upgrade to granetelli direct connectors($100/set) rather then rely on the stainless spring for spark...

Use motorcraft plugs.don't replace the cops unless you have problems after the plug replacement.
