restoring trim pieces???

I purchased an 04 Fx4 recently and the truck is in great shape minus the trim on the bed and fender flares. Its faded to almost white some areas. I tried back to black and that didnt work.... any ideas or do i need new trim??

SEM's 39143 Trim Black spray paint. Matches the stock color perfectly. I just did mine last week. It will take 2 cans to do all of the trim on the truck.

I used this 4 summers ago. It's coming off in some places so I will be spraying them again shortly.

I just recently used this black dye,http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/...ortby=ourPicks ,too early to tell how well it will last. It went on quite well, two coats......time will tell...

My cowl was chalky and blotchy. I had a can of Sharkhide aluminum protectant. It's really watery, but I think it's pretty durable. I removed the cowl, scrubbed it, and degreased it. Input some Sharkhide into a little paint gun, and sprayed on several light coats. It came out great. It looks like new, and since Sharkhide is so thin, it doesn't seem to scratch or chip easily. Boat guys have been using Sharkhide to protect aluminum for years, so I hope it's durable. I'm probably going to do my FX4 flares and door handles also, but the color is really faded on my bedrails and tailgate cap. I'm going to use Krylon Fusion on them.

I've tried the plastic dye and it's a PITA on pieces like the wiper cowl. It seems to streak a lot and dry unevenly when applying it so you constantly have to work it in. Is the SEM a better product in terms of adhesion and durability, or does it just do a good job of looking good?

If you are having issues like that with dye, you haven't cleaned and prepared the surface good enough.
