Im back to be a pita about the same issue

I have a 2006 ford f150 with the 5.4 been having the bad hesitation/popping in exhaust while giving it wot from 45 mph. i was able to get the check engine light to blink and my mechanic was able to pull the codes it threw the codes p0300 and p0301. i read about them on odb codes and it says random misfire and cyl 1 misfire. i plan on putting in new plugs and cops and buying the lisle tool before i even start just incase. i also read it might be my computer anyone get these codes and it turned out to be the ecm? My mechanic also recommended i buy the champion one piece plugs and install them instead of oem. also he said the cats might be plugged i should remove to 02 sensors and see if it runs better without them on the exhaust.

Wow, your mechanic is a moron. Use the motorcraft SP-515 plugs. Don't trash the 02 sensors, because unplugging them would only throw more codes.

WHY do you keep starting new threads on the same issue? Every time you do, we lose continuity. I think this is the FIFTH thread?

swap COP's first to see if the code changes to a different cylinder. If not, try a new plug...and from my experience with the same issue, stick with Motorcraft for this engine as the Champions I swapped in only lasted like 19,000 miles. Then finally get a new mechanic that is competent or not just after your $$$$....or at least get yourself a Haynes manual.

I don't know if you guys can read but it says remove the 02 sensors not unplug just to see if it runs better and he recommended the champs because they are a one piece design.

the maf and the front o2s are the primary sensors(there are others too) what give the pcm direction to add or take away fuel....take either one out of the fuel equation and your truck is going to run lean or rich....

the rear o2s are just efficiency monitoring sensers...

Stick with the motorcraft sp515

On ebay. There are a couple of sellers, one is Uneek. You can also get them for a savings but not that cheap, from AutoAnything or Rockauto.

motorcraft sp515 for plugs

if you use any others there's a greater chance of misfires between 10k-20k miles...some start to misfire at 5k miles

Personally I just use chevron techron in the plug wells upon loosening a 1/16th to an 1/8th and soaking....its formulated to breakup carbon deposits anyways......

I also recomend running 2 tanks of gas treated with the chevron techron prior to the plug change...

BTW...I do these plug changes on Fords where I work part time on the weekends...I know what works and what doesn't work...
