2007 STX New Owner

Hello All

I have recently purchased a 2007 STX.
Are there things I should be checking on this model? Or rather
is there some things that constantly go bad on these models.
I usually change the plugs and boots on any used truck but have read that they have had issues?

Also I have found two issues already.
1> it is popping a code fr the Supercharger. But this model has no Supercharger so why could that happen
2> when i was driving it on the highway my wife was driving behind me and said it would randomly squirt liquid out the passenger front side it would hit the tire and spray back.
3} I have heard and seen it hiss when i turn it off and it would create a small puddle under the truck But I assumed it was the air-conditioner discharge

No plug issues on the STX models, because they did not come with the 5.4 (except for a special model). If the 4.6, no worries, though you could change the plugs depending upon the mileage. Use Motorcraft SP-493 plugs for the 4.6, SP-515 for the 5.4--these engine like Motorcraft parts, and usually spit anything else back out.

Issue 1: if it does have the 5.4, a supercharger could have been a possibility. Try putting the VIN number into the VIN decoder here and it should help you determine most of the specifics about your truck.

Issues 2 and 3 I've no idea about.

Good luck with the new truck, and post some pics up

That's just a standard 4.6.

What was the exact numeric P-code?

2 and 3 are likely just the A/C drain.

Factory plugs are generally good for 100k.

Because you've got the 4.6, there shouldn't be any problems at all being that new. If you change out the plugs, keep them Motorcraft. Same with COP's and injectors. Your other concerns are just AC discharge as glc stated.

Welcome to the winning side!

So I am confused is there a issue with the plugs on the 4.6?
and should I stick to the motor craft or champions?
what about the platinum models verse regular and should I change the boots while i am at it?
lastly is there anything else you can recommend to improve performance without going into a large project or expense?

The only possible plug issues with the 4.6 2V are blowouts.

Use MOTORCRAFT platinum plugs, NO antiseize, torque to 28 ft/lb.

New COP boots are cheap and wouldn't be a bad idea.
