Painted Rear Axle

Hey everyone,
I painted my rear differential and wheel wells last week (Pictures of that found here: https://www.f150online.com/forums/20...attle-can.html) and today I finally got the time to go out and paint the rest of the rear axle.

Before: with just rear differential done

After:

Looks much cleaner now. Took about an hour+dry time. Painting my wiper cowl and wiper blades and a buddies tomorrow morning.

While it looks good, you must have a lot of spare time on your hands to worry about what the axle looks like, lol.

You can see the rear differential from behind the truck. I got tired of it looking like a big piece of you know what under the truck. And the Axle just had to match afterall , can't see at as much though.

Plus I didn't have to work today, figured I might as well clean up the axle fully.

Looks great! I've repainted mine yearly. Always did the rattle can, but last couple years I've brushed on Rustoleum bedliner.

Thanks man, I'm hoping to not have to repaint yearly. Looking for it to last a little longer than that..

Up here, they salt and sand the roads. Since you're in Georgia, I don't think it's an issue. Yours should hold up much longer.

Thanks yall, and Punisher I think painting it black and the rear differential red on your truck would look pretty slick.

And XL that makes sense, hopefully it will for me.

That is awesome! I might have to go down there and do the same while I'm installing my rock lighting some time down the line.

Do it, doesn't take long at all. I recommend taking your spare tire out (if you have it in) when you paint so you have a bit more room to work with down there.

Sounds like a plan! I'll end up doing it in early August, after out 2 week long field training exercise and then our 2 week vacation.

I do the whole underside of my truck with black rustoleum including the calipers

makes the truck look great and keeps the rust away!

If I had a jack big enough to hold my truck up to get my tires off, I'd paint my calipers too. I just painted the outside of my frame rails last night. Big improvement to me, but pictures don't show it much due to poor lighting.

Looking forward to seeing pictures Phatta! Good luck with your field training too.

Looks good, I'm a huge fan of painting the undercarriage. Makes the truck look so much cleaner.
