Non-LS Diff fluid?

I don't have a LS diff in my 2004 STX.

I know it doesn't need the friction modifier. Lots of fluid has it already. I assume its cool if I use fluid with FM even though I don't need it.

Am I right?

Thanks!

Yes, right. Gear oil however, should be the correct weight and ideally synthetic though.

Mornin'.

I'd use a fluid without the FM added if you don't need it (no LS) - lots available.

Here's why:

Ford says it's lifetime, but I'd change it every 100k. If you launch a boat with it and immerse the rear axle in the water, I'd change it right away.

Thanks, glc.

I'll have to look and see if the dealership has done anything; I'm at almost 107,000.
