Brake Rotors Re-surfacing

Need help where i can get my front brakes rotors turned. I went to Pep Boys and they couldn't do it. They said that there is a bearing and it will not fit in their machine. Any idea or places where i can get it done?

Ford drealer or a brake shop that has the machine to do them on the truck. I never turned mine. If it's bad enough to need turning, I just replaced it. Never had one that bad, just changed the pads.

Bearing? I know mine doesn't have any bearings attached to the rotor.

I think the rotors are made to be used only once, I havent turned any rotors in years. It will cost just as much to have them turned than getting new ones.

I just put brakes on mine. I put rotors and pads on. They too said that its common to buy new rotors instead of turning.

Because you have a 4WD. The rotor and hub are separate. The 2WD have the bearing pressed into the rotor/hub assembly.

Mother of god...I wouldn't trust those fly by night "mechanics" with changing a light bulb, sorry if anybody works at a Pep boys but the ones up in my area are a joke. I swear you could tell them you needed oil and they would look at you cross-eyed. If you really want to get your rotors turned just bring it to a dealership or a brake joint. Me personally, I replace my rotors instead of turning, they aren't that expensive, but everyone is different.

I just had my brakes done this past Friday. At the quick lane all they did was replaced the pads in all 4 corners.

When I used to work at Honda, we would turn the rotors on front when putting new pads if the rotors were still in spec.

Rotors Could be Turned using a "On Car Type Lathe" if they have the proper adapter 04 up F150's take a diffrent adapter than other models,As stated above it would be a good idea to just replace the rotors new ones will come with new wheel bearings already installed,The Nut is not supposed to be reused so you should get new ones I don't think parts stores will have the nuts get them from your dealer.

Napa

Napa turns my rotors. IF you do decide to replace them spend an extra few bucks and get the ones made in North America, I've warped the cheep Asian steel ones very quickly.

+1 on avoiding the cheapos.

The only people I know that replace their rotors every time they replace the pads are friends who drive Subaru STi's and BMW's and the like. High performance cars. Apparently that's standard for them and something they expect. However on the F-150, and my wife's Subaru sedan I always have them turned (a practice I've been doing since for 20 years). If they're still in spec, hell yes, have them "turned"/resurfaced. New rotors aren't cheap... having them resurfaced IS! I finally had to replace the ones on my '04 Screw 4x4 a few months back and went with the "Brakebest" from O'Reilly. "It's a rotor, how much better can the more $$ be?" Apparently better enough, because the new ones warped in about six seconds flat. Bleh. I've just been driving it for the last few months and putting up with it, but I'm about to pull them off and take them up to the shop. If they get screwy again I'll go back with Motorcraft or Bosch. The rears are up too, and I expect to be doing those in the next week or so and will be going with the good ones this time around. They're double the price 100 vs. 50, but if it saves me having to pull them off again after 10 seconds of use to take them in and have them machined, it's worth it. FWIW I think the stores around here get $15 a rotor.
