Replacement Console Latch

The cover of my center console was slammed last weekend and the little black clip that keeps the lid closed when down broke off. Does anybody know where a guy can look online to purchase one? Right now I don't have time to run around to junkyards and what I have seen and read on previous posts it sounds like you need to purchase the entire lid, which from ford will set you back a good $400ish I believe.

Anybody else have this issue in the past and how you replaced/fixed it? Thanks!

Check fordpartsonline.com

You should be able to get a schematic breakdown and hopefully pick the piece you need.

I found it on that website, but ford wants $73.25 for it!! That seems pretty steep to me, i don't know if this link will work right but it is part number 06072 (I believe) and I tried doing a google search and it seems that all latches ford makes for consoles are that number.

Your other option would be to see if you can buy it used from a salvage yard. Try someone like LKQ http://www.lkqcorp.com/

Yep I looked for you as well. That looks like #6072 is the one. That is probably a pretty common latch used on many Ford consoles. PRICEY isn't it! WOW!

I'm pretty friendly with my local Ford Dealer. If it were me, I would go see my parts guy at the dealer, pull up the schematic on his computer, point out the latch on the drawing to confirm indeed that is the part.
Then see what he can do for me on the price. He usually saves me about 20% or so.

It might work for you? You should at least go by the Dealer make sure of the part # and see if they can beat that internet price.
Ya never know
That does seem like alot of money for such a little part.

Good Luck

Thanks Richard, that LKQ website didn't have anything, I realize it is a goofy part and I will have to keep on searching around I guess.

Yeah pethel, I will have to bring in that schematic and double check with my local stealer -- I mean dealer, to at the very least make sure its the correct part. I might have to do some shopping around as well, so far the cheapest I found is around $50.
