Picking up 2008 Lariat this week
Picking up 2008 Lariat this week
So, I am picking up my "new to me" supercrew lariat this week that has 88k miles. Is there anything I should be looking for in particular as a service or wear item? I have a 2 year warranty on the truck. As a good measure I am going to change out the plugs and oil/filter. It has a new air filter and the other fluid look clean. Just looking for any "got ya's".
On the plugs, check to see if you have the revised heads that take the one piece plug. The COP boots are brown instead of black.

Could you expound on this a little?
Expound?
Ontop of the COPs (Coil On Plugs) there should be numbers. 8L3 or 3L3 or summit like that.
Basically if they number starts with an eight your in luck. If it starts with number three then buy a listy? Linde??? Anyhow buy that Spark plug extraction tool.
Also if you look on the driver side valve cover there should be an engine code & build date. 7G 600 BB is my code with build date 04-17-08. None nightmare plugs.
Fuel filter well. Your gonna need to buy a fuel line / Aircon line removal tool kit. Buy the MC fuel filter from Ford and they might throw a few retainers in there. Although I never needed them when I did the filter.

I'm not sure that the boot color makes any difference. He is going to change them regardless. My 08 didn't have brown boots, I followed the removal procedure, and didn't have a single issue. I did mine closer to 70k miles, but it will be fine I'm sure.
