Another Successful Plug Change

Well we tackled the plugs on my (new to me) '05 yesterday.
Just bought this one two weeks ago. It replaced my trusty '04 that I lost in an accident in April.

Well anyway, the truck felt sluggish compared to my '04 and had a little "pulse" or miss at idle but overall ran OK. It just turned 100K and I didn't know if the plugs had been done by the previous owner.
My cousin is a mechanic so he did all the work. He only broke 3 plugs but got them out easily with the special "gettum out" tools.
Oddly enough the rear plug on the passenger side was finger tight loose and he was able to remove with just the socket. Weird!
Turns out they were the original plugs and were pretty worn out.
He also cleaned the throttle body and the mass air sensor while there.

WOW what a difference! Feels like it picked up 50 horsepower.

Carry on guys

What a relief, eh?

Very weird aboot that loose plug - don't hear that very often.

Hey '88 ... you ever come across any in all the ones you R&R'd?

Yeah this one was alot easier than my '04. I was lazy and waited until 125k on that one before doing the plugs.
Broke 6 on it. LOL
Funny thing about the loose plug. I had been smelling gas on occasion while driving. Tony (my cousin) said that's probably where the smell was coming from because the plug was not completely seated in the head. In search of a fuel leak, he checked for bad O rings on the injectors and looked for wet puddles or dried "stains" evidence of a fuel leak.
Found nothing, and the good news is I didn't smell fuel in my 30 mile trip to work this morning.
I also went ahead last night and installed my Flashpaq handheld tuner that I had installed on my dead '04.
Went with the 87 octane tune since it currently has that fuel in it. Now I need to do some new datalogging to see how this truck compares (performance wise) to my old one. My best 0-60 time was 7.7 seconds on my old one. Not too shabby for an Extended cab 4x4.
For some reason this one feels stronger.

We'll see

Boy this truck runs goood!

Try 60k. Ford has revised the recommendation on the 3v's with the 2 piece plugs.

The truck as a whole not the plugs.
