Question Dont know which direction to go? Any thoughts?

Hey everyone, Ive been stuck on doing something with my truck. I want to do something with it but just dont know. I have 2.5 front daystar leveling kit, used to have 2 inch drop shackles, thought I wanted to lower it on 22s.. then realized maybe want to sit up higher, liked how fx4s leveled sat still not that height since I have a 2wd.

Any advice from experience on this? Its 2wd, I was once one of those people who said "why in the world would you lift a 2wd!?" but now that I own one I see why.. its just a truck really. I kinda wanted to do a 3 BL, its affordable, not noticeable (installation wise on these trucks really), would allow me to get nice set of wheels and tires and not spend a ton and would give me the height of like a 3 inch leveled FX4. Didn't want to go extremely high since its 2wd, so kinda didnt want to do an expensive suspension.. just dont know.. I wanted to do whatever install myself. Then I imagine the fun driving of lowered sleek looking truck on some 22s, but I hate sitting low in a truck. And advice fellas? thanks!

I'm not really a fan of body lifts on any truck. I'd say if you do something like the rize 4" kit and throw some 35s on there it'd look good.

I know my truck is a 4x4 but a 2wd truck will look great with just a leveling kit and larger tires. Mine has a two inch kit and some 34 inch tires.

I hope this helps...

IMO, no truck should be lowered. I just don't get the novelty of doing so, not that I'm not impressed by the craftsmanship of show trucks that have done so. I'm probably just more practical with my vehicles.

x2 Sooner. I bought a truck so that I can have a better view of the road (though the bed comes in handy at Drive-Ins too. If I wanted to squat, I'd sell my truck and buy a Fusion or something lol.

For those of you that enjoy that, though, more power to ya. After all, that's what this site is about

OP, flip a coin. Heads you raise it and tails you lower it.

I've been toying with the idea of lowering mine with firm suspension just because I have a bad habit of driving it like a car. I get halfway into a turn and then get reminded by the body roll.

Yea I agree with some posts here, I just don't like sitting down in a truck. My dads old 05 FX4 crew cab with just 2.5 front level sat up atleast 2 more inches than mine does right now. I love sitting up. But then again never lowered on nice rims before either.

If lifting.. a body lift too me makes more sense on a street driven 2wd truck, esp for look purposes. I dunno well see, really dont wanna mess with the good riding stock suspension at all. I would be installing BL myself as well. Ill just keep tossing and turning until finally making a decision haha.

you's guys!!!

yall crack me up!!

once you go low you never go back, or you get another truck to have the best of both worlds, im still taller than cars, my truck handles ten fold better, i can get things in and out of the bed easier, i can still use it as a truck, i dont have a horrid wheel gap, i dont have to strain to get in the dam thing, theres too many lowered chevys around here that i had to one-up, everyone loves how it looks if you do it right, my pup's dont have to jump up a building to get in.......and me AND my wife love it!!!

Best of both worlds? Why not just keep the truck stock height and get a sports car if you want reduced body roll? Makes more sense for most than having two trucks and paying to turn one into a car. ;-)

I have an 08 4wd lariat and I tossed the same thing back and forth. I lowered my 04 2wd and loved it, it drove and handled awesome. When I got my 084wd I was set on a 4" lift and 35s. Then I got to thinking about lift cost, tire cost, fuel cost, parking, getting in and out, kids getting in and out, bed being waaay up there. So I decided to lower it, got a kit ready to go on and big chrome wheels on the way! As long as I can get through snow that's all I need and with the slight drop I'm doing it will suit my needs much better that a lift would have. Buy that's just me, its your truck, you know what you want you just haven't admitted it to yourself yet.
Pics when you do!

That was my point. I was replying to RANGERansom about "getting another truck ti have the best of both worlds". Again, to each their own, but I just wouldn't get much thrill out of a lowered truck. I prefer mine stock height for most trucks, but never more than 2-3" lift. I don't want to have to add air-bags so that I can tow my boat or load the bed up with lumber. I don't need to worry about high-centering on a tall speed bump, or tucking in 24" wheels with a rubber band wrapped around them to jar my fillings loose, lol.
