ok so after reading hundreds of threads i am going to install a Flow Through Console in my truck. I already have the console and the shifter. I will be purchasing the dash from a local junk yard and i'm hoping they have the wiring harness that goes to the shifter. Thanks to DSGSTX81 for all of the tips he has given me. I do have a question though... do all 4 door trucks(i think they are called crew cabs) have the hole for the floor shifter already made?

also i think maybe try to do some ambient lighting like the 09+ f150

On the '04-'08 trucks, if the truck did not have the Flow Through setup factory installed, the hole is not there. You'll have to drill it in order to install the floor shifter linkage, which will not work going through the hole for the column shifter, unfortunately

if you wanna make the trip to dallas i can pull the dash and do the swap with you. (including drilling)
do you have the new shifter cable? and you'll probably need the cable bracket on the transmission as well
wiring isnt that big of a deal to swap over, or if you can get just wire in your own harness like I did.....
Also i have the perfect size rubber grommet to fit in the hole where you remove the factory shift cable

Hey Pat, I'm coming to Dallas the 18-20 for a concert. I don't need the dash swap, but would you be willing to help me finish mine up (drilling and wiring)? Maybe we could all meet up and we could both help Luis out. I've got everything I need, far as I know...the white harness that controls O/D off/etc. the whole shifter linkage and extra wiring. That Sunday, the 20th would work out best for me, if it would work for you two....

Still can't figure out why the SuperCab/Crew trucks (that could be floor shift) often don't have that harness, while Reg Cab trucks that should NEVER be equipped that way seems to commonly have it installed....
I have all the wiring and mechanical work done, the olny thing I have left to do is fabricate the end cap where the console meets the dash. I didn't want to change the entire dash, so I'm making a custom piece to fill the void and I plan on wrapping it with black leather. Anyhoo...here's two pics that show where I drilled the hole for the new shifter cable. I used an inch and three quarter hole saw, which the grommet on your new shifter cable will fit in perfectly. Be careful drilling as there are fuel lines directly under where you're going to drill, but they're far enough away that you won't hit them as long as you take your time. I drilled a pilot hole with a regular bit first, then located the hole underneath the truck and found out what I was up against. Another word of caution, the floors on our trucks are extremely thin and the hole saw will blast right through.......so drill slow and careful

doesnt matter a ground is a ground, as long as its a green painted bolt, its a factory approved ground
