Remote Starter Questions
Remote Starter Questions
To preface the situation:
I purchased an '05 Flareside FX4 a few months ago. Upon digging around under the hood after getting it home, I noticed a mounted siren with the wires cut, and a hood sensor. I assumed that someone had installed an aftermarket alarm system and had disabled it prior to selling it.
A few days ago, my wife drove the truck to town. I met her after work, and we swapped vehicles. As soon as I opened the truck door, the horn started honking and the lights flashed. Neither her PATS key nor mine would stop it, nor would the standard 3-button fob. It was quite embarrassing, to say the least. When it finally reset itself, I went into the dentist office.
Upon returning to the vehicle, it did the same thing. I ended up crawling under it, unplugging the horn, and driving it home. The lights quit flashing as long as the headlight switch was in the "on" position, though I did hear clicking sounds during my drive, indicating that the horn was still trying to sound.
Today, I finally made time to crawl under the dash and look around. It has a Ford-installed remote starter/alarm that I didn't know was on it -- I saw a red LED flashing under the dash and the module mounted above it. The part number is 2W7J-19G367-AA, and I believe it was manufactured for Ford by Code Alarm Systems (or something of that nature.)
Anyway, where can I purchase the correct fobs for this system? Anyone know the part number? Will I need programming?
Thanks.

I spoke with a good friend today who is a long-time service manager for a Ford dealership. He's going to check on this Monday. I did find the installation instructions online (http://documents.codesystems.com/701141.pdf), but still don't know the exact model I have. I do know that it is the "Remote Start System with Deluxe Vehicle Security and Keyless Entry", which I believe is called the "Gold" system by Ford.
Using the online instructions, I was able to disarm it earlier today by inserting my PATS key, turning the ignition to the "on" position, then pressing the hidden button I located under the dash. I should be set with just the correct remote for this thing.
