Hey guys, im hoping somebody can help me out or has had this problem and can tell me how to fix it or what to look for.

I have a 2004 5.4 liter and the problem im having is when i shift from drive to neutral the engine rpms drop off and some times it will stall. I would say it stalls about 6 times out of 10. When it does not stall the revs drop off but it recovers.
Now it does this also when i shift from drive to park or reverse to park or neutral.

Other than making the shifts mentioned above it runs like a champ! Does not stall or stumble when coming to a stop at traffic lights. Nada! It idles nice also.

I have been running Troyers 87 perf now for years. I have searched the site but found nothing like what im experiencing.

I'm thinking of returning it back to stock and bring it to the dealer to check it out but thought i would post up here and see if anybody else has come across this problem and fixed it!
I'm also thinking about cleaning the throttle body and the EGR valve if it can be removed and cleaned. But they may not be the problem as the truck idles very smooth.
Hoping somebody can help me out.

Well i pulled the throttle body about an hour ago and cleaned it. It was pretty grungy under the butterfly valve. I gave it a good clean and reinstalled it.
Sorry no pictures guys as i did not have time. I Need my truck for work today!

I will re post and let you know if that solves the problem. If not its back to the dealer to get raped.

 

Well after driving it a bit it seems to be running fine and no more stalling shifting into neutral or park.
Keeping my fingers crossed that all it was was the throttle body that need cleaning. By cleaning it has made a huge difference on the way the engine is running. It seems to run stronger if that's possible! Im going to re-set the pcm today!
