35s on just the back?

My 04 2wd currently has 285\75\17 (they say 34s but I mesure 33s) terra graps and I would like to upgrade to some nice mud grips. My thought is how silly would it be to just get 2 35in mud grips for the back and keep my 33s on the front? Seeing as its a 2wd the mud grips on the front wouldnt be doing anything for me offroad anyway.

Wouldnt look very good. Its your truck. also the tire you suggested by the numbers is only a 33.6" x 11" tire. So with the weight of your truck it will ony measure around 33". You have to be careful with the mud grapplers as sometimes the lugs will rub on your control arms with the stock wheels. you might search into that i think some fellas with stock wheels are having to use wheel spacers to push them out a half inch or so.

No control arms on the rear. In any case, just get all 4 if you're going to go that route. you'd have to do a lift kit to fit 35 on the front.

Only getting them for the back would limit you being able to properly rotate them and the mileage (wear) you get out of them will suffer as a result.

Do you have a lift or anything?

And may also cause problems with your anti-lock brakes.

Not a big fan of the big tires in the back and little on the front. Maybe if it was a farm truck that you just played around in. I dont think I would drive it around like that.

Ummm.......haha. I know there isnt control arms in the rear. ive installed a few lifts over the years. I was going to cover the point that if he decided to do mud grapplers all the way around, either the same size or bigger on stock wheels sometimes there are some rubbage with the lugs in the front.

Only lift I have is a 2.5in level, not big enough for 35s in the front which is the reason I had this thought. Cant realy afford a lift right now (if ever lol) so 35s all around wont be happening. As far as ABS thats been long gone... Lets just say this truck goes through of my own torture testing lmao I know it would probably look diffrent but just throwing ideas out there

And when it comes to rotating, my 33s have 1\2 tread and the new 35s would have full so swaping the 33s on the front with the ones from the back when they get bald and just leaving the 35s alone would equal out in my opinion

He's 2WD. I was under the impression that you could get 33's under a 2WD with a leveling kit, but not 35's.

oo, nevermind

I've seen 315/70/17's installed on 2wd's and couldn't find any signs of major rubbing, still not sure if it's the route i'd go.

I'd stick w/ the same size and go w/ a mud tire. a 35 is not that much more capable than a 33. Not nearly enough to justify the goofy look
