Goodyear silent armor or AT/S?
Goodyear silent armor or AT/S?
I may have stumbled upon a great deal on a set of goodyear tires. The available ones are the silent armor or the at/s both in 275/65r18. I have experience myself with the at/s on a chevy 1500 and was extremely pleased with them. My dad had them on a 99 F150 with good results as well. I have a friend who swears by the silent armors and will not run anything else on his F250 powerstroke. Any preference on this body style of F150? I read reviews on tirerack and they were pretty much all over the place some love and some hate for both. I drive through woods occasionally and live on 2 miles of gravel road but the majority of my driving is 2 lane rural highways.
I have the Silent Armour tires. They have the same problem as the recall. But my tires have not been recalled. Goodyear limited the recall to only a few sizes and such a narrow date range. I am hoping they expand this recall to more sizes and a broader production date range.
The ATS tires were for 20 inch wheels so I ended up with the silent armors. So far I love them for on road driving. Have not been off road with them yet. If they do as good as the ATS in that aspect I will be quite pleased. The Big O AT's I had on it were not as capable off road as ATS's I have had on previous vehicles.
The SilentArmors that are recalled are only the LT tires, not the standard P-metrics.
I got the notice at work as soon as it came down from Goodyear corporate. We were first to know, since I work at a company-owned Goodyear shop.
Wrangler AT/S is a damn good tire. A bit cheaper than the SilentArmors. They don't have the Kevlar treat underlay like the SilentArmors, or the severe winter service certification symbol like the SA's either.
I'm thinking AT/S will be my next tires once my Dunlop Rover AT's are done for, since they don't make the Rover AT anymore.
Either one would be a good choice. Just depends on if you want the extra bells and whistles with the SilentArmors and wanna spend the extra cash on those.
