Since I used to work for TASCA I can tell you that TASCA does not sell aftermarket parts, with the exception of "Motorcraft" and that stuff is as close to factory as you are going to get.

If you want true OEM, and it isn't a heavy part that is going to get you nailed on shipping, you would be hard pressed to find a better deal on OEM than TASCA.

I have no reservations about saying that.

NOW..... there are aftermarket mirrors out there, power/lighted/heated/signals for half the money. If you wreck your truck I assure you as a licensed auto damage appraiser that unless your truck is almost brand new, the insurance company is only going to pay for aftermarket.

I had to replace a mirror on my Explorer recently... guess what I used. Yes aftermarket because 38 bucks was better than 150, and I still get a nice discount from Tom Macero who runs the non-retail parts operation down there in Cranston.

There are only a couple of Chinese companies making knock off mirrors. Even if you bought the mirrors from Keystone, Empire, KSI/Astro, or any of the aftermarket companies, chances are they are the same part from the same molds that you are going to get from http://www.1aauto.com

look at these: 256 bucks.

yeah I'm sure I'll end up having to fold the driver's side in here and there. Although it's a simple mod, I'm extremely excited!!!! Any truck mod just gets me going for some reason.

Yes, they should work. You just have to move some wires around. Confirm with Tasca though.

Need help with rewire!

If anyone has installed the OEM's available from Tasca on a 2006 or lower, please PM me. I was hoping I could get someone to confirm the plug rewire.

Looks like just pins 8 and 11 need to be switched....is that right? And where did you get power for the puddle light?

Installed them on my 07 FX4, my previous OEM mirrors didnt have turn signal. Just power to adjust view. After installation, had signal light and pudle light. 350 all in to Canada. Couldn't be happier:-) TASCA.

Not sure....didn't pay any attention to that option, but I don't see what not if your truck is equipped for it, but if it were, you'd probably already have tow mirrors on it.

No, they didn't. The SuperDuty mirrors powerfold and power extend, but they don't fit on our trucks. I have never needed to extend my tow mirrors, so no loss there, but the powerfold mirrors would be nice. Still dumfounds me why the engineers would leave that feature out, aside from cost savings . . . but it's an option so who cares?

Anybody know how much wider the tow mirrors are from the stock mirrors on an 05? I've barely got clearance now going in my garage.

I can't get you the overall width measurement today, but I can tell you that I used to be able to drive in and out of my garage door opening with about an inch-1.5 inches of clearance on each side with the older style tow mirrors.

The day I put the new mirrors on, I backed out very slowly to see if they would clear. I can't say for a fact that the would or wouldn't, but at the last second, I pulled back forward and folded the drivers mirror in. If they clear, it would only be by a fraction of an inch. I'm not going to risk it.

I'll be back in town late Friday night and can get measurements for you on Saturday if someone else doesn't get back to you before then.

To clarify my post, I did go out and measure that for you Onamission. I measured both from the door plate to the outside of the mirror. The difference is very close to 4". I'm like Neil....I figured that IF I had a garage, I'd have to pull in the driver's side mirror each time I parked. I unfortunately do not have a garage so I don't have that problem. I sure would like to.

Thanks for getting the info out there for the other members. I was supposed to be home last night, but the fine folks at United Airlines failed to properly maintain their aircraft, so my flight was canceled and I am still sitting here 1400 miles away from home.

Wow man.....good luck to you. I know that game; traveled extensively for my last firm. I've barely traveled at all since 2009. I miss it. I DON'T miss the delays though. Hope you make it home safe.
