Power Seering Pump or Rack?

Hey folks,

Did a search but didn't quite find this complaint. My truck is an 04 Crew 5.4 with 145K. Recently as I'm driving all is fine driving straight but the slightest move of the steering wheel to the right, whether just a slight correction or curve to the right I can hear what sounds and feels like the PS pump groaning and vibrating? It doesn't happen at all when moving to the left or when at low speeds (like in a parking lot) or a a stand still. I though it might be the Antilock brake pump actuating so I unpluged it and it still does it so its in the pump or rack somewhere. No leaks, fluid is full.

Anyone else experience this problem? Any insight would be appreciated. I hope it's the pump, much cheaper to replace but it's just wierd it only happens when the RPMs are up and there is pressure on the rack turning right but not left......

Thanks for listening

Jeff

Try sucking all the fluid you can out of the PS reservoir with a turkey baster, then refill it with synthetic Mercon V ATF.
