05 4.6 mpg

Hey guys, sorry if this is already a post elsewhere. I've seen a few posts about mpg but couldn't recall one about the 4.6. Anyway, i've got an 05 SCAB 4X4 Flareside with a 2.5 HBS leveling kit and 17x9 Eagle Alloys wheels with 285/70 17 Cooper STT's and I'm getting about 11-12 mpg and was wondering what other people with the 04-08 4.6 are getting (not sure if the newer body style with the 4.6 still gets the same mileage or if they tweaked the engine a little or the different body style makes any difference).

Dont think there is much difference in the 4.6 and 5.4 for mpgs.

Big heavy truck, slightly lifted with larger, heavier meats with high rolling resistance. A dearth of low-end torque, etc, etc ....

Doesn't add up to a Prius-beater, looks like

A lot of info missing: ethanol-laced fuel / winter blend? Driving style? City/highway mix? Gearing? Inflation pressure? Condition/maintenance history (e.g how fresh are the plugs and front O2's)? Yada-yada-yada.

One thing you'll see, if you searched for the many, many mileage threads, is a total lack of consistency.

I think yer right in the middle of the pack, all things considered, with no other supporting data to modify that estimate.

*EDIT* How are you correcting for the increase tire diameter in terms of the ODO? This can throw off yer calculations.

Pulling 14.5-15.5 on my 2WD 4.6, but that's with a 4.30 rear axle.

I'm definitely not looking for a prius beater haha. I'm honestly not sure what kind of fuel. I typically just pull in where I see it the cheapest. Mostly city driving. Honestly not sure what gears I have. I looked on the rear dif cover where two metal tags are being held on by the bolts and for some reason it didn't say there. I run my tires at 40 PSI. Haven't changed the plugs in a while and haven't worried about the 02 sensors since the check engine light hasn't come on.

I figured I'd be around the middle of the pack. I was just curious to see what everyone else was getting.

I haven't done anything to fix the change in tire size. Yet. I'll be getting a Gryphon with custom tunes here in about a month.

Oh ok. I wasn't sure if there would be. Just thought I'd differentiate just in case.

That's not too shabby at all.

Meh, I am getting 13-15 in my 5.4L 4X2 with 2" leveling kit.
I was getting 17-19 on 225's but they looked like weenie tires, then I went to 245's and they looked ok until I got the level.
Then the 245's looked small, so I got 265's.

I would like to go back to 225's but I love the stance of the leveling kit, and the 265's ride so smooth.

Towing package, 3.73's, year round same millage

That's not too bad. Unfortunately after moving up to 285's I don't want to back down either haha. I get where you're coming from.

I don;t think I could fit 285s, I wanted some nittos but could not afford them.
I got a set of 245's for $420 and my current 265's for $510.

Those aren't bad prices at all. My 285's were like $850 and that was wholesale.

I get 15 city 17.5 highway. I have a 2005 4.6L STX Flareside. It has 3.73 gears and 285/70/17 mud tires on it. It also has Monroe quicklift struts on the front (about 2 inches of lift). Only mods as of right now are the Gryphon on Trans only. Stock plugs and coils yet.

That's parrot spam and has been reported. How do you propose to block registrations from them? I run a forum and don't know of a way. Report the post and they get rid of it pretty quick. When you report a post, the mods get e-mails.

It's easier to click the 'REPORT' button and let us deal with it rather than bringing it up in a quoted post, wouldn't you think?

We'll never totally eliminate them... but, you'd be surprised at how many we do remove weekly....
