Nice improvement in your plastic pieces......

Regarding the clay kit, I guess I've forgotten the days when a $20.00 expenditure was considered to be a "budget buster" -- don't sweat it because these days will make you appreciate all the more the time in the future when you can spend thousands on your truck and not sweat paying the bills.....

Thanks.
I just hope the bumpers hold, I can't afford new ones and all I had was a wire brush, black krylon fusion and myself.

I scraped them as best as I could but not everything came off, what was left was solid.
They held up 6 years so far, I hope they can handle another 3-4 now that I got some paint over them.
Maybe it will slow the rust down.

If I had time I could use my dads air tools and really get right down to the bare metal and then repaint from there.

I wish I could have gotten them down to bare metal, but I used what I had and did the best I could.

So, I have walmart and advance/autozone here, should I be able to pick up some rust converter at one of those places?

Thanks for the help everyone.

I found this in my local store.

Thanks, too bad it will have to wait a month or two.

At least I can finish the plastic rocker panel covers and mud flaps.
Maybe I will do the mirrors and inner fenders too.

I hate waiting, but I am gonna save up some money and paint the underside of the truck, the back side of the rims and touch a few other areas up as well.
I would like to touch up the rear wheel well too.

Will it hurt it to have the mud flaps and rocker panel off for a few days?
I got the truck in the garage at work and could pull them easily in here, could pull the inner fenders too, but I am not sure thats a good idea to have it off for a day or two.
Not supposed to rain the next couple of days.

Edit 2.
I removed the mud flaps and decided I liked how it looks with out them, I am gonna clean them up and paint them. After I am gonna put them away.

I could not get the inner fender to come out at work, so I left it alone. I may or may not paint the rocker panel covers now, along with the mirrors.
Still gonna clean/clay and wax it this weekend.

I plan on replacing the exhaust and painting the underside still though.

This is something I plan to do over the next few weeks... (restoring the plastic). I may have missed it, but did you do anything to prep the plastic?

Nice job BTW!

The plastic looks awesome. Great job. As far as the inside of the bumper, did you sand it down to bare metal or the spray over? I have a gallon of POR 15, I may take off my bumpers and use that.

When you do your frame, if it's not too rusty, use some Rustoleum Satin black in the spay can. It'll look factory new.
