Exhaust Suggestions

I need to put a new exhaust on my '04 Super Cab with the 78" bed. I've been looking for a Magnaflow, but when I contacted them, they said they don't make a split rear exit for my truck. Has anyone on here ordered a complete system and had it installed? Does it just need some modifications to make it work? I was looking at the Magnaflow #16520. Any ideas or help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Just buy a SIDO Magnaflow muffler and take it to an exhaust shop locally. They'll weld it up any way you like, and it will likely be cheaper than buying the kit.

Difference in mufflers is purely sound preference. The only exception is cheaper mufflers like Flowmaster aren't made of stainless steel, so they have a tendency to rust quicker. The Magnaflows, Borlas, etc are SS. Most prefer the tone of a magnaflow.

As far as choosing one, magnaflow makes a few different lengths, the longer the muffler the quieter the noise. 11-14" is going to be pretty loud, 18" is middleground and pretty good all around, 22"+ is on the quiet end and really more of a replacement for a stock muffler.

I believe you want a 2.5" in and dual 2.5" out oval muffler.

A good start is to read The exhaust guide to get some basic knowledge.

Yeah but different types of steel also. Most flowmasters are galvanized steel which can rust all the way through and create holes. Magnaflow is mostly 409 grade stainless which will develop ugly surface rust but won't go through (and some flowmasters are being made with 409 steel now too). Borla/Corsa use aircraft grade t304 stainless which won't rust at all, hence them being expensive but also the best.
