For future reference - Motor Swap Questions

Alright guys so I plan on keeping my truck for a good while since I'm more concerned about Harleys than new trucks. I'm constantly adding miles to my truck, and although I know my 4.6 has at least another good 100k left in her, I'm curious as to the future of it.

Now I know plenty of people have been over this already and that so far the only documented swap from a 4.6 is to a 5.4 2V, but I'm curious as to if (in a few years) I got my hands on a good low miles 5.4 3V with 4R75W and ECM from a salvage vehicle, would that be all that's required for the swap?

Again, don't fry me here. I'm just looking a few years down the road at the difference between scrapping the current truck and buying a newer one vs grabbing a motor, trans, and ECM from a 5.4 for a few grand

Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure swapping engine/tranny/ecu/radiator/efans/etc to the 6.2L would be as cost-effective. Even so, I'd just put in another 4.6L if you need to down the road and go on with your business. There won't be much, if any, higher resale value on a vehicle with 200K miles on it with a new 5.4L vs a new 4.6L. It's a $5K truck wither way at that point.

I don't really see me selling it, after so many miles on a truck, it doesn't matter what you've done, the value's gone. I'm hoping to get a good 300k out of my 4.6 as well. I just figure if I do swap someday to keep her going down the road, might as well throw the bigger motor in there. The 6.2L would be awesome, but I see it coming with more problems, plus 5.4 3Vs are available for a good price, the 6.2 I don't see being too available two or three years down the road. Would the 8.8 axle hold up to the 5.4 well enough, or would that need to go as well?

Just get the 9.75 out the same donor truck that you get the 5.4 3v from and your golden, it's literally a bolt in.
