Strut/Coilover Problem?

04 FX4

Replaced my struts and top mounts, reused the springs. I see the spring isnt seated toward the motor in the top mount on my driver side. Passenger side is seated toward the motor and rides much better than the driver side. Wouldnt think this would matter but maybe im wrong? I would just have to remove the entire unit, compress the spring and spin it so the longest part of the sping is toward the motor...

Any info out there?

It makes absolutely no difference how the spring is oriented. It just has to be fully seated in the mount.

What can make a difference is improper tightening of the lower strut bolt. It must be left loose. Then set the truck on level ground, and tighten to 350 ft-lbs (or as hard as you can get it). If you don't do that, the strut bushings bind. It helps to install the lower strut bolts with the nuts facing forward.

Ill jack the front so the weights off and remove the bottom bolts, then reinstall so they slide in nice, then lower the front back on the ground and put the nuts on... next time i wont have my girlfriend do the tightening! LOL

Good idea

As a little tip, I actually roll the truck in and out of my driveway a few times to make sure the suspension is completely settled before tightening.
