I did mine to 28 ft-lbs. A friend and I did our plugs back-to-back one day at ~80k each without any trouble. The key for us was a slightly warm engine, mine came out without any carb cleaner and once they broke free the first 1/2 turn, I literally unscrewed them by hand without a ratchet (7 out of 8).

Back to the torque, just 2 weeks ago, my friend (who opted to not use a torque wrench and just feel it) had a plug shake loose after 10k and the entirety of the tip broke off and ran through the engine. Got it scoped & compression tested at the dealer, and no damage done luckily.

Moral of the story, make sure your torque is right, which will probably require a wrench in in-lbs.

Cylinder 4 on my truck did the exact same thing. So far so good but only time will tell.

I changed my plugs around 75k and broke one but made a homemade tool to remove the sleave. I'm getting to that 140k mile mark pretty quick. So hopefully this time will be a complete success! Glad to hear you got all of the plugs replaced!

Another thing guys is I have the ford racing hot rod cams in my truck I don't know if that was a cause of them breaking off on me or not I'm by no means a expert. To be completely honest my plugs I pulled looked pretty good compared to other plugs I've seen on here

I highly doubt the cams have anything to do with them breaking. If your truck hadn't already been tuned, then I would maybe say it could be running richer then normal and may be a contributing factor but that is out the window since it is tuned. I was in Malvern two weekends ago! Someday when i'm there we gotta meet up somewhere.

Yeah I didn't think it was a factor but then again I'm no expert there was no sign of running rich nor lean. Looked as my tune is right on the money. What was you doing up in this big part of the country for if you don't mind me asking lol.

Sparkplugs done at 58K, 2 broke $450.00 parts and Labor

After the job was done I started smelling a raw fuel odor from the vents when the fan was on but wouldnt happen if I swithced to recirculate. Asked Stealth for help-"I've never had any experience with the raw fuel smell or any leaking from the injector o-rings. Maybe there is a loose plug but it's hard for me to see that all the way over here. I'd look into the Ford 07M08 sticky in the v8 engine forum just for the educational value concerning the fuel injectors on the 05 5.4 engines. I've had to use that program before due to an injector problem. Also maybe make a thread in v8 engines expressing your concerns. There are some really bright guys that hang out in there!" After reading this I was hoping that it could just be a plug that needed to be retorqued. Took it back to the dealer and asked them to check their work and see if it was just a torquing of any plugs. They confirmed one needed to be torqued, they didnt charge me on it but got me for a trans flush. No more raw fuuel smell though,Thanks Stealth and F150 Community!

I have done about 14 sets of them now. I get 425 but that includes oil change, fuel filter, clean throttle body, and clean mass air flow.
