Tire slashed on the truck last night

Walked outside this morning to head to work, right rear tire is flat.

Turned around to head back in the house for a minute, and as I turned, I noticed the trunk of my mom's Neon was open. Weird. So, I grab it and close it down. Lock is punched out and sheetmetal is torn to hell.

Now I know what the noise was I heard last night that had me running outside with my 12 gauge in hand locked and loaded. It was some punk bitch breaking into my mom's car and slashing my tire while they were at it.

If I had been 5 seconds later, I can say I'd have probably unloaded some 00 buck on whoever it was. As it was, all I saw was tail lights hauling *** down the road. Couldn't even get a plate off it due to distance and darkness.

What a way to start the day!

you should have shot even though they were too far for buckshot. Maybe they would think twice before doing it again to you or somebody else if they got a cracked back window and a few dents in their trunk

I thought about that today while I was sitting at work. But, I also thought if I had just popped off a few rounds like that, someone in the neighborhood would get bent out of shape about it and report my *** to the cops.

To heck with the 12ga. I can hip shoot my .270 just fine, and no problems with distance...

Even if somebody did call the cops I'm sure you could have just explained the situation and it would have been fine. At the very worst, you would have gotten 20 hours or so of community service for shooting in the city limits. It's a misdemeanor. Don't ask how I know that :o

Technically, there are no city limits here. I live in a modular joint that is just kinda plopped in the middle of the country. It's weird.

Agreed, even though it is against my better judgment.

Playing devil's advocate here...but you did the right thing not firing. In this day in age let's say somehow the bullet goes further and kills one of them or they wreck and someone gets killed. Then you lose everything you own and go to jail because of some idiots. It sucks and I'm right there with ya, but the important thing is stuff can be replaced.

I agree w/jam. While you had a right to protect your property, and they deserved to get shot, if they somehow got killed or killed others after you hit them with the buckshot you'd be in for a world of hurt. Especially when the damages are probably around $1K or so. There are some pretty dispicable people out there.

That's probably about right. It's a sad day when you have to be reluctant to protect your property and give some thugs what they deserve
