HUH? error code B1484: Brake Pedal input open circuit ?

hey guys . i am loving my new to me 2004 f150 scab .

its run perfect and now since the snow is flying , ive had to use the 4wd for about 10-15 miles .
im only telling you this since thats the only thing ive done differently .

just yesterday my little engine-shaped yellow light came on , so i went to our local autozone .

the code read B1481 : Brake Pedal input open circuit
. we checked the brake lights , and all was fine .

i think i need a mechanics code reader to figure it out .
the only other thing i did was hook up a trailer that had a bad ground . i could see the brake lights slightly dim as i plugged the trailer in , so i took the plug out right away . everything worked fine after i fixed the trailers bad ground .. all lights came on with the truck and trailer. so i dont think any damage was done .

any suggestions?
thanks in advance !

Try this... set cruise control, tap the brake pedal... did cruise control disengage?
ok, now try this... can you shift from park to reverse without touching the brake pedal?

Do our trucks have 1 switch or 2 on the brake pedal? I've worked on other cars before that have 2 switches. I think one is for the brake lights and the other is for cruise control and/or shift interlock (don't ask me why they use 2... I don't know)

Either way - the first thing I would do would be to lay under your steering wheel with a flashlight and check the brake pedal linkage. What do you see?

Something must be wrong the switch on the brake pedal for that code to appear.

the cruise works fine as i use my cruise every day .

also the shifter doesnt work unless i push in the brake .

heres an update though . .. all of a sudden after our deep freeze we had , the weather got better and the check engine light came off ! i think what happened was i spun the tires too much on my houses road , and i threw some slush up on the abs sensor on the rotor or something and bridged a connection with the slush ? no idea what happened . but its pretty coincidental that i spun the tires a few miles before the light came on and it was freezing cold and now its 45 out and the light went off.

who knows . ill let you know if it comes back on .
thx for the help .

Strange. The only ABS sensor on the wheel is the wheel speed sensor and it would throw a different code. To follow along your theory, it seems more likely you threw water/slush on the brake pedal switch which caused a momentary short, hence the code.

I replaced the switch

I replaced the switch and it still pops the code up. Every since I started getting the code my battery is draining.
