aftermarket remote start and perimeter lighting.

Hey everyone,

I just finished installing a viper 5501 in my 07. The one think I dont like is that the perimeter lighting doesnt come on when i unlock the truck. Is there a way I can activate it with the viper remote starter?

thanks,

You can program an accessory to activate with your starter. Go thru your installation guide and it will explain how to turn on programmed accessories. Most shops that install them will charge an additional $20.00 to connect it to an accessory that's already on the vehicle.

I understand what I need to do... just need to know which wire activates the puddle lamps/headlights when unlocked.

If I were to venture a guess I would say this was a function of the BCM where the lock module sends a message to the BCM and the BCM energizes the circuits running through it.

Is it a CAN-BUS command or is it electrical that tells the BCM to perform the sequence

I think youre probably right. I may need to find a bypass module that will interface with the BCM. That got me thinking... thanks!
