Those hercules mt's are not known for long tread life. The shocks are not your issue. Inherantly the leveling kit causes problems with tire wear from the get-go. I agree on the re-alignment, that is a must.

Yes Bad Shocks will HELP prematurely wear out tires. But not as much as a bad alignment.
The level kit extends the shocks out further so that adds to the stress of them.

The front end is a tricky thing if one part is worn out it affects all of it and puts extra stress on the other parts.
So yes I would say do shocks with the lift kit if you have the available funds.
But if not make it next on the list.

Really you will have it taken apart anyways so what does it hurt to change them at the same time?? Hell I did!

Still haven't done it yet, my tax returns got eaten up by the busted water heater...

I have a MESS of stuff on order for the truck right now. But let me tell you guys a little something new I discovered...

It only did it on the drivers side, and I am sure it is because I was better able to "adjust" the metal backwards on the passenger side previously, but I can see where the tire rubbed against the lower rolled lip of the drivers fender on the back. There are no marks are ALL on the passenger side.

The rub MUST have happened off road somewhere as I get no rub on road at all. This must have been at speed, at comrpression turning. Which leads me to believe it happened turning into the deer lease as I turn, off a gravel road, through a ditch to start up a trail, and I usually hit it pretty quick...

Right now, I have on order a 9K lb pull winch, and winch mount which I will install as soon as the things come in and are checked out okay.

I have a set of Rancho RS9000s on order that will wait for install until I get...

A fresh set of Hercules Trail Digger MTs in 35x12.50/17 are on layaway. I am doing this slow due to finances. I expect to have them on for December 1 so that my lovely bride and I can drive up to Oklahoma to see family in the truck instead of jamming ourselves in the Saturn.

The shop that is doing the Trail Diggers, will also install the shocks, and do the alignment.

Prior to any of that happening. I am going to have my BIL, that is a professional body man, bend that flap of metal neatly out of the way, trim the plastic back properly, and them prime, paint, and even undercoat any metal that gets exposed. That lower fender edge is the ONLY area where the tire gets even close, and if he folds it back the way I want, I should gain 1" of clearance for the tire without the modification being visible from outside of the wheel well. This will help with dealing with the added weight up front of that winch and mount as well!
