Help!!! LEAK
Help!!! LEAK
Well, thing that caught my eye was that my subwoofers were not working.. went and pulled off the back seat, to notice the back seat/the amp, and back window were all dripping with water.. What's up with this? I've heard of the 3rd brake light leak, I searched it and couldn't find anything on it.. Any ideas, is their a seal that can be replaced? Is it possibly my rear window?? Any help would REALLY be greatly appreciated!
3rd brake light leak is common on these years of trucks. I had good luck siliconing mine on but others have used better weather strippping with success.
There's lots of threads on this subject.

Yeah, need to work on it tomorrow and replace that seal/gasket.. I'm sure it's dry rotted, from being under a tree/in the sun! Thanks guys
Yeah the stock seals are crap. Like EJS said have a friend hose down the back first from all angles to verify.

Yeah, we honestly probably had a solid 4-5" of rain today.. Not slow and steady, EXTREMELY heavy.. Planning on fixing it tomorrow before I head into work. Thanks guys
Cool.
Mine is currently leaking but it's got a crack in the lens after inspection. Have it taped up all ghetto like, can't fix it right now because I have nobody to help me get the fiberglass lid off the bed.
I backed in and parked it on my upsloping driveway a few weeks ago and I had water coming down my windshield from the leaking 3rd brake light. It traveled down my headliner, pretty crappy to see. After that episode I taped it up. I'll fix it during the break.

Just went, took the 3rd brake light off. Did not show any signs of the sealing being bad.. But what I did discover is a small crack on the right side above the passenger side bulb..In there I located water droplets still in there, and also water droplets around both screws? I still have water puddled up in the back at both the passenger and driver side, but not in the middle? Suppose it's leaking on both sides and running down there? Last night when I went out, and I did notice water drops around the top of the rear window, not in the roof line just around the seal of the window? Could it be the rear window causing significant leaking? I'm trying not to say "hose down" the rear, because I do have hundreds of dollars in electronics back there and don't REALLY want to have to remove them.. Thanks.. Also planning on ordering a new 3rd brake light as well.
