idler & tensioner pulleys ...speaking of Chinese bearings
idler & tensioner pulleys ...speaking of Chinese bearings
I recently replaced my tensioner pulley that sounded atrocious. In shopping my local auto parts stores, carquest and napa, I discovered I cant buy a pulley that doesn't come with a Chinese bearing. I went ahead and bought the gates pulley from napa which said made in Canada on the box, but it says China right on the bearing. This is kind of disheartening since the ford bearing didn't even go 50k before taking a dump. How.long will this Chinese one go? 10k?
Anyone know where to get American or Canadian bearings in the pulleys? I plan to replace the three idler pulleys too.

Most likely, because it should just be pressed in. You need to make sure it isn't crimped or something like that. Not all Chinese bearings are junk. China has been making bearings for a LONG time. They can make good bearings but the problem is with over a billion people in China and probably a 100 million manufacturers
, you never know when the guy that manufactured the bearing you bought just started up business last week and got the contract because he bid the cheapest price. No way to tell the quality of any of that cr*p until it fails.
BTW, there's more Chinese product in our trucks than most people realize.
