I'm about to roll over the 120,000 mile mark on my truck and I am planning on changing out all of the injectors beforehand. I am looking on Rockauto at the Motorcraft CM5138 and the Ultrapower 8MFI817 and they both have the same warranty (one year) but I can save $40 on the Ultrapower ones. I know it is just $40 bucks but I'd like to be able to save it if possible. Does anyone have any experience with the Ultrapower injectors? I sent Rockauto an email asking them if they were just reboxed Motorcraft units and they responded with "Since they are two different brands, I don't see how the Ultrapower could be a reboxed Motorcraft part."

 

Just FYI, the bad injectors were in a specific batch supplied to Ford during the 2005 model run, so Motorcraft injectors will be as good as any other brand you would get now. Also, I considered doing the very same thing you are doing with my 2005. When I discussed it with the service writer at my dealer, he said I would be wasting my money. If the injectors were good at 120,000, they were no more likely to fail than any other injector, including replacements. I kept going and sold the truck in October with 135,000 on those injectors. Just something to confuse you! LOL

 

If you're going to change them.....stick with Motorcraft.....
