Wagner Thermoquiet Semi Metalic or Ceramic? Please help answer!?

I'm in the market for some new brake pads and it looks like the house majority is the Wagner Thermoquiet brand.

My question is what's the difference between the Thermoquiet's and Ceramic brake pads?
Also which one would suit my needs better?
Getting bigger rims and tires so I would like some extra stopping power but would also like something with no brake dust.

I'm not sure what pads are on now but I get virtually zero break dust!
I'm swapping the stockers for some chrome digs so I would prefer as little brake dust as possible without compromising extra stopping power.

Thanks in advance guy and gals!

Ok I'm going to go with some Semi Metalics. Seems like the popular choice.

I was originally going to buy some pad from my local 4wheelparts but they are way to pricey!!

Found some front and rears on eBay for about $35-$36.
Is there someplace I can get them even cheaper?

Coupon codes maybe? That would be very cool!

Thanks

That's what I would suggest, staying with the original type, which is semi-metalic. I bought mine from Rock Auto for about the same amount, but I think that was after a $15. rebate per axle. If that's for Wag. semi-metalic, that's a good price.

The semi-metallics are the more popular. I have run them for years.

I have ceramics on mine, put them on at about 50k and now have 164k.....same pads and they still have over half the life left. I pull an 18' trailer to motocross races, granted the trailer has brakes but it still puts a fair amount of strain on the truck.

Rotors....will need replaced before pads.

Ceramics here. Happy so far. Had Hawk ceramics and they didn't last. I believe Expeditions came with Ceramic to start with though.

I have ceramics on the nose, and my rims look 1000 times better now that the semi's are not depositing iron filings onto my polished aluminum centerlines.

I have not cleaned the wheels once this year. for the last 2 years it was a chore, along with a bunch of elbow grease and polishing compound.

I won't use anything but ceramics if they are available.

Were they Wagner TQ semi-metallic? I have never had the problem and have 135,000 miles with them.

sblue, I have some Wagner semi-metalics, new in the box, which have been sitting in my garage for a year. I'd be willing to sell them for $55.00 shipped conus.

Think this is gonna be my next mod--I'll price the semi-metallics at the local AutoZone and prolly change all four out in the next 6 months.

I have semi-metalic, no dust.

I am not sure either will gain you stopping power unless you have junk pads now.

I had to get new rotors and pads for the front quite a few months ago and a couple thousand miles including towing a 6500-7K Travel trailer. Guess what I went with.........stock! I told the guys at the ford dealer my concerns with the brake dust. I was told they redid the pads somehow and they are much better. They really are. My front only looks like minor road dirt like the rear.
Just a thought......forgot to mention this when I did it.
