Very Odd Electrical Problem. '04 fx4

Two days ago my truck wouldn't start, it would crank once and then stop like somehow the starter just suddenly didn't have any power to it. Once this happened I noticed a weird electrical clicking sound coming from the back of the cab, right where the cab and the bed meet.

I pressed on the brake pedal and the clicking stopped, and when I released the pedal it started up again. Not wanting to burn out my battery (which was obviously powering something) I went and disconnected it.

I sat there for a while very confused so I called out my buddy and asked him to take a listen. So I reconnected the battery but there was no clicking, and when I went to start up my truck it started up no problem.

However when I got in the truck to drive it I couldn't accelerate quickly at all. I know some cars have a 'limp to the mechanic mode' where if the electrical system is jacked up it will allow you to just drive down the street. Well this was unacceptable so I stopped my truck and disconnected the battery again, waited a second and then reconnected it. This time, no clicking and it accelerated normally.

Hoping it was just some transitory problem I drove home and went to work the next morning. It started up fine, no issues with acceleration, no problems at all. Then went I went to go back home it happened again. This time I disconnected the battery, reconnected it and it started fine. There was no acceleration issues either.

Needless to say I am seriously confused and need some enlightenment right now. Please help

The clicking noise is coming from the Body Security Module, also know as Body Control Module. It controls the locks, etc. It's located behind the back of the rear seat, attached to the back wall. It will make that noise when you have battery or power failure.

Thanks Bluejay, what do you think the issue is, bad power somewhere or a bad module? Any idea why disconnecting and reconnecting the battery would fix the problem?

I'd go over to Autozone or another parts store and get the battery and alternator tested.
