Just my 2 cents, put the controler in a place for easy access. I got into trouble last year on a switch back on a mountain road and would have lost it if it was for being able to lock the trailer brakes up. And no I didn't have too much trailer it was all my fault going to fast on an unknown road will steep blind turns.

Ya you obviously want a controller in easy access, but has anyone put the controller in the open bottom compartment in the center stack?

Do you have the center console like on a fx4 or lariat? I have mine mounted to the side off it. Looks pretty good. I will try to get pictures tonight when I get home and post them.

I tryed mine in that hole in the center stack but it stuck out and didn't look good. Now if you cut a hole and flush mounted it, it may look alot better. I mounted mine to the left of the steering wheel on the bottom panel. I figured it would get in the way but I haven't hit it getting in and out of the truck in the last 2 years.

I mounted mine inside the FX4 center console. Granted, in a pinch it would require the extra step of opening the console to manually activate the trailer brakes, but, in all my years of towing, I have never needed to. Plus, for the other 99% of the time a trailer with brakes is not attached, it is out of sight.

IF I needed it, I sure wouldn't want to have to open the console to get to it. A friend was towing a trailer down a long grade late at night when the trailer suddenly started to weave and if he hadn't had quick access to the controller, it would not have been a pretty sight. Something you probably rarely ever use, but when you need it, you need it NOW! When I did tow a travel trailer, because I'm right handed, the controller went above my right leg on the bottom of the dash.
